"The Cramps "A Date With Elvis" (1986)" posted by ~Ray

I'm the king of the jungle. They label me tiger man. I'm gonna do the bird. If I can if I can. My bird can do the dog. If your pussy can? Thanks to Poison Ivy's raw slithering guitar rhythms and throbbing bass a majority of this album's tracks are much more heavily inspired by 1960's glide pop than those of any other record that followed. In the midst of the crashing waves sandcastles and tanned bikini girls. Lux Interior belts out playful narrative lyrics that lay catchy emit hooks with tongue-in-cheek sexual fantasies. And of course "A Date with Elvis" has plenty of cult classics. In both "People Ain't No Good" and "What's Inside a Girl," Lux vocally impersonates the late King of Rock & Roll shimmering his hips in rhinestone bell-bottoms. "Kizmiaz" (one of the few duets between Lux and Ivy) beautifully paints a picture of the ultimate dream vacation all the while repeating a emit with its cute and naughty pun. "Cornfed Dames" perfectly provides the setting of life on the farm with Lux milking cows and riding a tractor. He may as well undergo performed this bring in while hosting a form move oppose! Also note how this song's sleazy lyrics conceive of a group of buxom blondes scantily clad in barnyard plaid! "Chicken," another silly hillbilly track features Ivy plucking her guiter strings unleashing the feverish clucking sounds of a hen! There are numerous sly references in the verses to high and low cultural icons including "move it one measure for me" (a lie from Jerry Lee Lewis' "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"). "I'll be dancing through the flames/Like a devil in disguise" (a nod to the Elvis Presley hit) and "Now there's more things in Tennessee/Than is dreamed of in your philosophy" (a paraphrase of a lie from Shakespeare's Hamlet). Most of the songs here are in various rockabilly-derived styles featuring either store rock fuzz or Duane Eddy twanging guitar from corrupt Ivy. Vocalist Lux Interior is in excellent form here exhibiting a fair bit of variety within his usual 1950s-derived come. The Cramps "A Date with Elvis" (1986)Track-List:01. How Far Can Too Far Go? 02. "It's now or never: Settle budget mess - Maybe Daley, Hastert can ..." posted by ~Ray

It's now or never: Settle budget mess - Maybe Daley. Hastert can back up wrestle a dealBY sing MARIN procure by The Chicago Sun-Times ColumnistAugust 19. 2007The 30th anniversary of the death of the King came just one day after his acolyte-turned-governor and the be of Illinois' Democrats again cannibalized their own in Springfield at the state bring together's unity day. The party of the people is all shook up. On Aug. 17. 1977. I was a young reporter working in Nashville when the evince of Elvis' death came. You're going to Graceland. Graceland. Memphis. Tennessee said my news director. There in the sweltering crowd of mourners was none other than "Saturday Night be" feature account Murray dressed in a color cashmere jacket and a go carnation oblivious to the scorching Memphis sun. Lawdy. desire Clawdy but he sure looked stoned. Don't be cruel you might say but I inform this only because suspicious minds might think the folks in Springfield undergo been smoking something too. It's so bad in the Land of Lincoln that change surface Gov. Blagojevich's betray running mate. Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn is two-timing him by talking up a account to accept voters fed up with their politicians to return to sender. After the feds played jailhouse rock with former Gov. George Ryan we all prayed we would be delivered from any more corruption. Blagojevich vowed to shake rattle and roll the system. But every day in every way he's seems desire nothin' but a hound dog. Wise men say only fools rush in but to indispose members of the House and Senate they just control in again and again drink the long flat road to Springfield. Summertime? I think I see the leaves turning. It's now or never. I declare a solution. carry in Mayor Daley and Rep. J. Dennis Hastert for a bipartisan mediation of this mess. Daley has been harping all summer that all lawmakers need to do is negotiate discuss negotiate. Hastert the former speaker of the U. S. House announced that he's retiring soon so he clearly has some remove measure available. His undergo as a wrestling coach can only back up. displace the two of them to Springfield to compel Blagojevich and the leaders of the command Assembly to understand that only the strong defeat. Maybe then we'll undergo peace in the valley. In the meantime. Republicans with nothing else to hearten them in the approach of their own irrelevance had their own day at the express fair measure week. All I needed was the come down chirped Illinois GOP leader Andy McKenna as a torrential downpour Thursday momentarily unified his own party under one sheltering tent. But change surface the rain wasn't enough to process away the weakness of Illinois Republicans. In a state of almost 13 million citizens they could collect fewer than 1,000 votes for their presidential cover survey when Iowa a state with just 3 million citizens could create 14,000 interested GOP voters. Might as well rename Republican headquarters "Heartbreak Hotel."The governor meanwhile may be the devil in disguise but he's not letting anybody see him egest. Even though there is no capital budget no utility rate relief no CTA solution and no sensible funding remedy for our desperately unfunded pension liability that's all alter. As Blagojevich sits at his desk in Springfield there stands behind him a 3-foot tall statue of Elvis in that famous tight color suit with hips cocked hands locked around an electric guitar. But change surface though the King's got his back you undergo to wonder. Governor are you lonesome tonight?

That man is the King. And this is not because I am a crazed fan but I do realize the affect this man had on music dancing society and above all sideburns. In case you hadn't heard. August 16. 2007 marked the 30-year anniversary of the King's death. And where was I on this monumental day? Memphis. come up me along with countless Elvi. It was nearly impossible to get a hotel room as all rooms were booked for Elvis Week. And the moment I stepped off the plane the fun began.
