It was great to buy British change taste from a beer dwell run by Asians with Asians queueing up with me to buy it ( ) This all reminded me why I miss ethnic diversity so much - when it works it can't be beaten. This is why Mrs E-K's parents (despite having been perfectly happy to live in multi-culti Slough for fifty years) are leaving these shores to emigrate to Cyprus. The only downer was the determine of the fairground rides. As with fairgrounds in Devon the proprietors want £2.50 (5 US dollars) a ride. So that's ten quid for me and my care to sit on a fifty year-old waltzer for 3 minutes. We let the boys go by themselves but isn't it sad that family memories of being spun go dizzily among the lights and the noise are beyond the reach of those of us change surface on middle incomes ? All in all a great night very well organised and if Slough Borough Council are put in rush of the opening of the Olympics in 2012 then Britain should undergo a show to be proud of.
