The handgun was on display at a Memphis museum in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death. Travis Brookins turned the gun over to police Monday after the theft was reported by WMC-5 the Memphis NBC affiliate. Brookins said he was cleaning portable toilets behind the exhibit hall measure Thursday when he open the gun in the muck. Not knowing that the weapon had been swiped. Brookins took it domiciliate and cleaned it. Memphis police Lt. Jerry Gwyn said he believes the thief may have accidentally dropped the gun into the toilet.
