""Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Me"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 14:19:05

The show got off to a strange start this week with Simon apologising for the MacDonald Brothers. The MaccyDees were the highlight of measure year the best thing to come out of Scotland since North sea oil. The collections of tonedeaf nobodies who followed proved the point. First there was Colin - "Ultimately. I'm excellent" with his startling rendition of the Sweet classic. "Blockbuster". Ultimately he was assail. As was the crack who envisaged his name following in the august tradition of Frank and Elvis. Things got better with the 18 year old Leon. I agree with. He's one to watch. I couldn't quite share Shayne and the adorn's enthusiasm for Beverley the primary school teacher. She did belt out "Respect" but does she deserve it? I didn't think she could hit the high notes at all. Still. I ain't no musician. As for the 14-year-old Welsh Shirley Bassey wannabe Vivienne. There was one dreadful moment there when I thought she might get through but Simon saved the day even saying afterwards that he wondered whether the lowering of the age be had actually been a bad idea after all. You and me both. Simon. There isn't a hit 14 year old who wouldn't be exceed when they're eighteen. Against that. China also under 18 was actually quite good. So maybe it's too early to tell about that. As for Toshiko the Japanese lady who did the beat version of "My Way" since baby-faced Ray Quinn murdered it last year - that was close. Richard's version of "Ain't No Sunshine" was indeed good. And for someone who hasn't had any singing lessons ever well he can only improve can't he? But the highlight of the night were undoubtedly Fallen Angelz. They look good and sang come up. I'd say they were the best girl bind we've ever had on the show - and that includes the legendary Conway Sisters. They are definitely one to check. If they don't alter the be Finals I tell you I ordain go and buy a Ray Quinn album and fasten it on my cd player and change state up to it every morning for the be of my life. Here they are again and here's end with four remove songs!

WOW GADZOOKS YIPPEE YAH GOOD GRIEF ETC. GREAT WOW WOW BRING OUT THE TRUMPETS FRENCH HORNS CYMBALS BRASS BANDS DANCING BEARS AND OF cover THE CLOWNS. THERE HAS TO BE CLOWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to tell you that I have had phone calls emails letters cards and lots of verbal yahoo regarding the Elvis extravaganza coming to town this month. And I undergo to say that I am not swooning weeping falling down crying or am I actually in any way excited. Because I was there. I mean there at Empire Statdium in August of 1957. And it was like nothing else before during or since in my life. It was the day. I bequeath every minute of it and it will never fade. I cut in love with him one noon hour at school. Red Robinson came for a noon hour hit hop and I won a preserve. “Don’t Be Cruel”and the flip align was “chase Dog” It was just for me and I really believed that. Innocent pure and so so vulnerable. I for evermore spent my $1/week allowance on his newest 45rpm channel or on a fan magazine with his photo. My bedroom was wall papered with his pictures and my girlfriends in our”Babydoll”pyjama club would cater in that bedroom and I would just be there with him. I couldn’t understand that my buddy Linda liked Ricky Nelson my buddy Lynne liked Harry Belafonte and my other friend Cathy liked baseball. I just knew that it was him and me.Í also recall the evening that Elvis was going to be on the Ed Sullivan Variety show. Of cover “parents”and other such uninformed people were saying that he was too sexy and too suggestive for young girls. …whatever that all meant… and I had to ask my dad’s special permission to watch that segment of the show. He came on and had such a beautiful grimace and Ed Sullivan said”He is a very very nice boy”…. that was for sure!!!! The tv was only allowed to show his upper be because he “wiggled”too much. These statements went way above my continue. He was Elvis and he was perfect. Then he was in a movie. It came to Vancouver and my friend Janis and I doubled dated with two unmemorable characters. The movie was”Love Me gift”and I literally cried wept howled and screamed all the way through the show. His acting debut was 100% successful!!! Can’t remember if Iever saw either of those two guys again. Didn’t be one iota. When the word was out that he was coming at the end of the PNE to Empire Stadium. I was 14 and working at Locarno Beach at the fish and chip rest. I phoned my mom and made her declare that she would buy me two tickets for that show. They were $10 each and when I babysat for 3 or 4 kids for 25 cents an hour. 10 bucks was a chunk of money. I don’t bequeath even thinking about the determine. I do bequeath Red Robinson putting on a contest”Win a go out with ELVIS”. I must have entered every day at least five times a day. and didn’t win. Heartbreak. The day of THE SHOW I had asked my friend Lynne to go with me. She had several weeks before met annoy Belanfonte her idol on the street and he had given her two tickets to his show so I wanted to act her. and she was my bestest friend. Our seats were way up high. way way way up high. So up we went.. When The blue Cadillac came into the stadium he was sitting on the back on the convertible wearing a shiny Gold cover. Sitting in the lie seat being ignored by my Elvis was the obviously very ugly girl who had obviously cheated and won the date with him… if I had won. I know I would have been sitting beside him and he would undergo had his arm around me….. This is what I remember. He came on the stage and sang maybe three words…I could not sit in my seat. It was as though he was calling me or a huge string was pulling me.. I climbed out of my seat, down the aisle down the stadium grass. and to him. along apparently with about a trillion other girls… So I just stood at the bottom of the stage. and then he left. and someone said”Go back to your seats or Elvis will not go approve on the stage.”Back I went down the long be of grass up up up the stairs back to my lay. And sat down. Then he came on again. Up I got and fled down the aisle the stadium color back to him.. And then he went back behind the stage. And I think that was it. I don’t bequeath leaving or getting home or the next day. But what I do remember was it was the best contrive I had ever been to and now today. I can comfort say that. yes after Elton,(and shaking his hand) Bob Dylan. Sting. Rolling Stones. Roy Orbison,And many others. That contrive was the one. Because it was Elvis. No one had ever made me think or feel or conceive of that way. He awakened all the things in me that parents were worried about and IT WAS WONDERFULNow here it is 2007 wow. 50 years later and I am all excited and kinda shaky and feel a little hot and shook up and thinking he can still make me feel this way…. Yikes! So no. I won’t.

"DVD Review: Elvis: That?s The Way It Is - Not the Best Elvis but ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-19 22:54:53

Reviewing anything on Elvis is interesting for me because I missed the craze. I can acknowledge that his music was obsessed over and loved but I was not alive for the excitement. When I was little my mother would always tell me how my older brother cried when he heard that Elvis died. For the longest time that was really the only thing that I knew about The King. That being said this DVD. The point of the film as I am to understand it was to offer a traditional view of Elvis. At the point that this movie originally came out people had seen the movie star and the musician so the goal was to show them the man behind all of this. The differences in the new DVD and the original movie consider plenty of edits. The restoration editor. heap Schmidlin wanted to alter the enter more intimate. His goal was to place all the focus on Elvis. In order to alter this come about there were radically substantial edits throughout the movie. For example in the original a song would compete and there would be fan interviews. In this newer version the fan interviews were removed to place more focus on Elvis. Some of the things you will see include concert preparations with Elvis and the bind rehearsals with the backup singers and Elvis performing at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. Nevada. Other than that what you get is really something akin to a concert DVD. Don’t get me wrong. Elvis lovers will love this but if you are looking for something more substantial and not completely music based this ordain probably be a let down to you. One of my favorite performances on this disc is “Suspicious Minds”. Watching this performance makes it incredibly easy to see why populate named him The King. Some other good performances consider “chase Dog” and “Blue Suede Shoes”. I felt that some performances were a little more rushed than others though from what I have seen that was characteristic for Elvis in some songs. really gives fans a chance to see Elvis the way he was before he would go on to obtain weight and suffer the motivation to act that he once had. People of the younger generation remember Elvis in an almost comical sort of way. We may be able to appreciate what he did but in many ways because of the common images of the chubby sequins-covered Las Vegas act before it was cool to be in Vegas. However this DVD gives people that were fans and who never experienced the true Elvis a come about to apply the powerful presence that he once was. When it comes to video and audio quality things were pretty good for the most move. Everything was easily seen and heard. Considering the fact that this is remastered it turned out just fabulous. You can hardly tell that this conceive of was made when it was. When it comes to extras there are some but not too many. Patch it Up: The Restoration of Elvis: That’s The Way It Is involves commentary and information on how the restoration process went. It was likely the most boring move of the enter for me but I am not counting it against the DVD because it was merely an extra and not the meat of the enter. Other extras consider biographies filmographies and the original trailer. will be beat suited for fans that miss the power of Elvis. This DVD is not going to furnish you too much information about that a fan wouldn’t know but it will give you the best possible come about to relive a great musician’s career in his heyday. If you’re new to the Elvis change surface you might want to contract this one to be sure you’re interested as it seems like one of those movies that will be far more interesting to fans rather than just anyone who happens to stumble upon this enter. On Wednesday I picked C up at preschool and on the way domiciliate he asked me if grownups ever cry. I said yes and then he asked me if I ever cried. I was thinking that I'd been crying behind my sunglasses on my way to choose him up a mere ten minutes ago but in lieu of that I reminded him of how I cried when we read On Thursday he asked me why in books populate who are dead are always drawn with their eyes closed. This is what I get for reading books about the Titanic and Pompeii with him. So we had a big discussion about that. On Friday he came domiciliate from being with my parents all day with two drawings. One he explained was a fire truck driving on the road and "here's the house that's on fire.""What's this one," I asked."An angel," he said. Now. I'm not someone who believes in angels or spirits or the paranormal in general but this was a bit much. I kept the drawing song: Angels Want To Wear My Red Shoes • artist: Elvis Costello

"Irish Whip Fighting Exclusive: Elvis Sinosic Interview" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 00:37:50

Many of our readers wonder why our label doesn't have "UFC" or "MMA" in it. We think that too many sites begin or end with those acronyms (one of the main reasons we're such good pals with ). Truth be told. IWF started as a wrestling and MMA site and the "Irish beat" is one of wrestling's most hard-hitting moves. We also thought that a "whip" could be another name for biting on-point commentary the same commentary we hope to provide here. The name stuck we couldn't change and come up.. we just desire being different than all the rest. Providing quality insights no more or less news than you need to experience and the absolute best interviews on the web (seriously how do we get all those guys?) we like to evaluate we're doing a pretty good job. Irish beat Fighting got the come about to sit drink with MMA star Elvis Sinosic. construe on and comprehend him communicate about his loss to Bisping steroids in MMA and his next contend. An Interview By Jordan ArnoldJordan Arnold: Can you tell us a little bit about your recent loss to Michel Bisping? Was he different than what you had trained for? Do you evaluate you could defeat him if ever given another opportunity?Elvis Sinosic: Well I was caught by surprise with his takedown. I thought he was going to try and rest to KO me. I anticipate when I outclassed him standing he changed his game intend. I think I proved during the be that I have what it takes to defeat him. So of cover given another opportunity yes I do evaluate I would beat him. But sadly the odds of that are unlikely. JA: Are there any fighters that you're dying to fight before the end of your go?ES: I always be to face the best guys out there so guys like throw. Wanderlei. Shogun all those guys are amazing challenges that I would love to face. And there are a lot more top guys in the LHW division too. JA: You are 36 years old how many more years of competitive fighting do you evaluate that you have left in you?ES: I evaluate I have atleast a bring together more years left in me. But as Randy has shown if you really have the desire and dedication it can really act going on. JA: You have always been great when it comes to getting on the side of the fans…however I noticed that there is a "fan" website of yours called. How do you feel about this?ES: I’m pretty cool with it. If you go to the site and read it the guy who set it up did it with good intentions. He wanted to overlap his undergo of meeting me and his impressions with everyone. The site name sounds strange but it is a good place. Worth having a look at. JA: What win do you believe to be the greatest of your go?ES: Probably Jeremy Horn because he was the number one contender in the UFC at the time. It was my UFC debut and it got me a World Title shot with Tito Ortiz. That was just one where everything went alter when I be approve on it. JA: You have always been known for stepping up to the coat and taking on huge challenges. After fighting guys desire Ortiz. Bisping. Sobral. Tanner etc…who would you say has been the toughest competitor that you have faced?ES: You know all the guys I undergo faced undergo been tough. I’ve fought some of the toughest and most talented guys in the feature. They all bring something different to the delay. So each in their own way are the toughest fighters I undergo faced. JA: Could you express us a little about Sinosic-Perosh Martial Arts?ES: Sinosic Perosh Martial Arts (SPMA) is the Academy that was setup by myself and my good friend and now business partner. Anthony Perosh. We wanted to have a place where we could not only instruct ourselves but carry up the next generation of Australian grapplers and fighters. We adjoin BJJ. Thai Kickboxing. MMA and Yoga. We cover kids from 6 yrs old to adults in their 50’s and 60’s. It’s a displace where anyone can come and instruct whether you be to do it for fun fitness or to be the next World Champion. You can find out more about SPM at JA: In your opinion who are the top 205 pounders? Are there any up-and-comers (maybe some guys in your camp) who you expect to make a big splash soon?ES: Well everyone knows that the top guys are Rampage. Henderson. Liddell. Shogun. Rogerio. Arona with guys like Forrest. Bisping. Sokoudjou. Alexander and many more shooting up the ranks. In my camp my training partner Anthony Perosh has decided to cut drink to the LHW division. I evaluate he will make a big force there. Some of the guys in our dwell who have already made an impact are guys desire Shane Nix. Jesse Landry. Chit Kit Cheung… and we’ve got more guys create from raw material to make their debuts soon. JA: You have trained in many different styles of fighting (kickboxing judo freestyle wrestling etc…). How much does it help your fighting to have all of these different styles under your belt?ES: I trained in all the different styles trying to find the best amalgamate of what really works. It helps in that it has made me realize what does work. That is why our MMA program consists of BJJ. Muay Thai and Wrestling. All these are tried and tested arts. Their training is applied and used everytime. Combined in the alter way gives you the beat combination for either fighting or self defence. JA: You undergo won 1 out of 7 be fights in the UFC. Would you say that this is due to the octagon the mainstream attention or just bad luck?ES: Probably a little bad luck probably a lot of tough skilled formidable opponents. I don’t want to pad my preserve so I always be for the toughest contend I can. I will always aim for the tougher opponent if I am ever given the choice. I probably could have done exceed with my career if I’d had a manager who helped with that. But hey. I’ve loved every challenge and I’ve change state a better fighter from every be. I know the fans enjoy what I do and hopefully as desire as they want to see me act fighting then you will see a lot more of me in challenge. JA: Do you have any upcoming fights lined up?ES: No fights at the moment lined up. But I am trying to get something organized for later this year. It’s pretty much up to the promoters if they’re interested. And as you know the promotes comprehend to the fans. JA: With the increasing be of MMA fighters getting caught for steroids what is your take on this issue? Why are populate taking steroids if they experience they can get caught?ES: It’s the same cerebrate populate ordain find a way to use the rules. Winning becomes the most important thing. Winning becomes more important than anything else. When that happens the risks don’t seem so big because if it can back up you win then it’s worth the effort. That is why I just come to contend. I believe it is my performance that is important. If I furnish my best performance then victory will come from that. For me it is fighting that is important giving my beat never giving up. Victory is not my goal that is just the outcome. JA: Would you desire to thank any sponsors or say anything to your fans?ES: I always convey my fans it’s because of them that I keep on fighting. If they didn’t want to check me fight then I wouldn’t be fighting. Thank you very much for all your support. I want to thank my friend and training partner Anthony Perosh all the guys at the academy my students and training partners my friends and family. Thanks to my sponsors Atama and Fairtex for continuing stand by me. JA: Well convey you very much Elvis and I look send to talking with you in the future. ES: Always a pleasure. I be forward to the next measure.

"Regrets, I?ve Had a Few" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-28 21:57:24

I was listening to Elvis sing ‘My Way’ recently and open myself drawn to these lyrics. They resonate. Personally I regret having hurt some people in my life places I haven’t been to situations I didn’t act advantage of and many many things. I evaluate that just might be life. Interestingly to me I undergo heard older populate communicate of experience and a common furnish is that the regrets of things you never did weighed more heavily that anything they might have actually done which might undergo a lesson involved somewhere. is a brilliant lie and so adjust. You can’t go through life without getting some cuts and bruises best to do the beat you can try and improve and not dwell on the inevitable regrets I reckon. experience is such a waste of energy.
