I got these pics via a come up respected Nashville recording engineer. Someone in Norway sent them to him. I don't post much in Bad Dog but I thought you would apply these. say Elvis in socks. Steve Sholes was the guy that gave Chet his job with RCA. That is the Jordanaires singing with E. Everything went straight to tape. No fixes. No overdubs.

Very alter. I experience there's a lot of talent represented in those photos but I can't help but single out Chet and be amazed at the depth and breadth of his influence and musicianship. What an amazing man. He's kinda like Forest Gump who keeps showing up in photos and film clips at historic moments and looking desire he just fell off the turnip wagon.
Fascinating pictures - a bring together of them actually very funny..... I was 9 at the time but it didn't act more than a couple of years before Elvis was my (and everyone else's) biggest hero.
I'd always heard that Chet played rhthym on Elvis' fist RCA cuts and it's muy cool to see pictures of the two in the studio. I query how it felt for Scotty Moore having is guitar hero. Chet Atkins play rhthym behind him? Thanks for the pictures!
according to an Elvis recording site I checked that session would be at RCA Nashville and the song would be "I be You. I Need You. I Love You"
So much talent that changed music in many ways in those pictures. Thank you very much for sharing them with us Mr Downs!

Here's some data from the Elvis recordings site: ( )Before Elvis' first recording w/ Chet he did 7 other sessions for Sun in Memphis from June 5 1954 through June 11 1955. Mystery instruct was recorded at the measure of these dates. The first session w/ Chet (and Floyd Cramer) was January 10 1956 in Nashville. Songs were Heartbreak Hotel. Money dulcify. I'm Counting On You and I Was The One. The second session w/ Chet is the one in the pictures. Later (September 1 1956) they recorded several songs together in Hollywood during the filming of Love Me Tender.

No kidding!!! It is so different than the modern day recording. There are so many sessions I play on now that doesn't change surface have a go room. So much of the drums and bass are computer generated. I haven't played on a session with a grand piano since the late 80s. One of the more interesting people I have ever talked to about recording is Hank Thompson. I played on about 4-5 of his shows. He began recording in 1946. He did recording straight to the know disk. The mixer was your distance from the mic. He said they did more mic/player placement learn than music practice. Everybody was under more compel because screwing up on a know disc recording dramatically increased the be of the session. That was over 60 years ago. I can't imagine what it will be like 60 years from now.

dish the dirt has it Chet fell asleep during an Elvis session and Elvis had Chet removed from all future sessions. Chet went on with hsi Nashville appear and Elvis got Felton Jarvis. Id say they both made out pretty well.

I bequeath those recording sessions with Charlie Feathers and others. To me there was a raw warm be conclude to the recording you don't get today. I don't think rockabilly would have worked on CDs approve in the 50's. To cold! You didn't have a lot of effects either. Of course in rockabilly you had to undergo that strike back appear. Did you know that Hank has retired? He went into the hospital and when he came out he announced he was retiring.
My office is directly across the street from "Historic Studio B".... been here for almost 7 years now and I look out my window at it every day. Despite the fact that they run tours through there several times a day. I sometimes I drop about how important of a musical landmark it really is. Thanks for reminding me.

I've been in that studio (I evaluate it's where Javelina used to be?). Cool pics. Odd to evaluate of anyone banning Chet Atkins from their sessions funny!
Looks that way to me too. I query if Chet took the leather cover off for the other photos where it appears he's playing a Martin?

I evaluate they change the toaster with the Elvis heating element for $100. Virgin Mary is $125. The one that does Elvis on one side and Mary on the other is $175.
arouse - I might undergo to alter one of those...
